Peonies, why are they so popular?

Ah peony season, we look forward to it every year. between the months of may- June you can enjoy these gorgeous large headed blooms in all their glory. Why you ask? Well, here are a couple of great reasons why the gorgeous Paeonia is so sought after...

1. Their scent is truly glorious!

The sweet smell of spring moving into summer is how I would describe the smell of fresh peonies, somewhere in-between a floral and fresh hit of subtle fragrance. The scent isn't overpowering or sickly, having these inside the house will fill the room it's home to.

2. watch THEM BLOSSOM

When you first receive cut Peonies, they should be in a closed bud- this is for optimum fresh-ness and means they will last longer. Not to mention, you will enjoy the process of them waking up. As soon as they are in fresh water, as well as a bit of warmth and sunlight, the petals open and continue to do so for the rest of their duration. The open large and in charge showing off all they have to offer.

3. coral charms change colour

When coral charms open from bud to full bloom, the colour keeps you on your toes. changing from a deep sunset pink to a pale peachy cream. this is why sometimes, coral charm peonies can be tricky for brides as finding the right tone at the right time can be a challenge.

4. They are only around for a limited time

Even though, I could happily have Peonies in my home 365 days a year, I love that they are only here for a short period of time. Usually from Early May- Late June (sometimes even shorter) Peony plants will start to blooms, wholesalers and markets start selling the gorgeous stems. The short time makes them almost feel exclusive and special when they do arrive.

5. A plethora of colour

Peonies come in so many different colours. From white, blush pinks to reds and oranges.

Truly spoilt for choice!
